Read all three pages. Data transcribed, G computed, graph plotted. Here's the key result first, then the print-ready record.
Numbers from your four readings (L = 300 mm, d = 10 mm, J = πd⁴/32 = 981.75 mm⁴, G = TL/Jθ):
| T (kg-m) | T (N·mm) | θ (deg) | θ (rad) | G (N/mm²) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5 | 4905 | 2.1 | 0.03665 | 40 895 |
| 1.0 | 9810 | 4.3 | 0.07505 | 39 944 |
| 1.5 | 14 715 | 6.8 | 0.11868 | 37 896 |
| 2.0 | 19 620 | 9.2 | 0.16057 | 37 346 |
Mean G ≈ 3.90 × 10⁴ N/mm² (39.0 GPa); graph-slope method gives 3.79 × 10⁴ N/mm².
One thing to be ready for in viva: the linearity is superb (R² = 0.9994, so your procedure was clean) but the value is ~half the standard 0.8 × 10⁵ N/mm² for mild steel. That is a systematic offset, not scatter — the two honest causes are (i) slip at the chucks inflating θ, or (ii) the actual twisted length being longer than the 300 mm gauge length you used. Since G ∝ L, an effective grip-to-grip length near 600 mm puts you right back at ~78 GPa. I've written this up as a discussion note in the record rather than hiding it — much better than a fudged number.
